Milly is an teenage girl living in outback Australia. Her father is a struggling farmer, her mother is stuck in grief about the death of her brother, her best friend is a Japanese immigrant and her love interest is an Indigenous Australian boy. She finds her father ready to shoot the farm kittens and pleads with him to stop. She comes up with a business plan to save the kittens but the results are not what she expects.
